Don Ault
Don Ault, National Project Manager, joined HDG's core team in November, 2007, having managed the largest earthworks project for a luxury PUD (HDG's Windward Preserve) for Pointe General Contractors. Don developed diagnostic and problem-solving strengths during a career with NCR, then a top 100 company. He worked with early computer systems and was transferred to Hunstville , AL to work on NASA 's Apollo space program and NCR's military contracts at the Redstone Arsenal. NASA 's “zero defects” motto, ingrained into his management and operating philosophy, was applied to tourist services marketing at the 1982 World 's Fair in Knoxville, TN. Transferring his management expertise to the commercial construction industry, Don built and or upgraded properties for clients including Comfort Inn, Holiday Inn, medical buildings and “The Lighthouse”, a drug rehabilitation hospital in Knoxville.
Adding experience as a community activist and political campaigner exposed Don to neighborhood and residential development issues, and work on project teams planning the new Riverfront development on the Tennessee River in Knoxville . He provided research reports for components of the Gateway Visitor's Center, White' s Fort, and Blount Mansion . Don is now directing vertical construction at Windward Preserve, and providing oversight for establishment of construction management at HDG's other developments. His experience brings HDG the ability to subcontract construction work, or to self-perform wherever this establishes greater control over cost and schedule. An avid sports car and Tennessee history buff, Don lives locally with Wanda, his wife of over 35 years.
