Association for Visual Arts
The Association for Visual Arts (AVA). AVA was established in 1986 as a result of Vision 2000 – a community initiative now known as the „Chattanooga Way‟ for community input. Today, AVA has a membership of over 600; is run by a staff of six employees; receives leadership from a 23-member board of directors and has assistance from over 200 volunteers. AVA provides members with opportunities to exhibit and sell their artwork; teach and facilitate; and cultivate their community leadership skills. It is active in schools, recreation centers, hospitals, the workplace and public spaces. HDG is the 2008 Presenting Sponsor for the 4 Bridges Arts Festival, to be held in Chattanooga in April. This festival has been ranked in the top 30 best arts shows and festivals in the United States. It draws artists from around the country, with literally thousands applying to exhibit the art in the First Tennessee Pavilion, while art collectors, admirers and first time buyers enjoy the sites and sounds of 4 Bridges. It provides a robust impact to Chattanooga's economy. (www.AVArts.org)
